my parents are so strict that traveling in the early years of my life only meant a beach or pool outing in the province with the relatives every summer. i was not allowed to join our school field trips until i reached the sixth grade. in high school, all out-of-town trips were either school-related (e.g. field trips, quiz bees) or had to do with family (e.g. weddings). i always get sick on long rides anyway so i really didn’t mind.
when i entered college, i started to wonder what more of the world can i see. this soon turned into wanderlust, but i didn’t want to go exploring alone. at first, it seemed hopeless because my potential travel partner–my boyfriend/husband–was a home buddy. but after i finally pulled him out of his cave for our first weekend getaway, we both discovered the bliss in traveling. and we have been dreaming of traveling the world together since. we see every window in our every day as an opportunity to travel to places near and far–driving and getting lost, flying and exploring, sailing and swimming and just moving around. it doesn’t matter where so long as we are traveling together.
first stop: the philippines. of course! our domestic travel goals have evolved from stepping foot on all three main islands (done!) to visiting at least one province in all regions or seeing at least one place in all provinces.
